Store Ownership Transfer
Spin City Cycles Customers-
After working in bike shops for 28 years and starting and running my own for the last 18, I’m retiring from the bike industry. It’s been the plan for a while now and why the wife and I opened Fleet Feet 7 years ago. We've slowly been transitioning out of the bike industry since then. With the remodel earlier this year and shrinking the footprint of the store we got a little closer to making it happen. It’s really been a pretty good gig, allowing me to do what I enjoy and share it with others. Operating two stores is becoming more and more challenging, so I’ve decided it’s time to step away from the bike side.
But, don’t fear, Spin City Cycles will still be here for all of your cycling needs. Cole Daniels who has been a longtime customer, friend and more recently, employee, is going to be the new owner. He has worked in customer service for 20+ years and ran a store out of the bike industry for 18. Cole is ready to rise to the challenge of owning his own store and to share his passion with others. This really couldn’t be a better fit and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.
We are working on the transition now. I’d love to have a farewell party, we have had some great events at the store, but COVID… Our transition should be done sometime in mid-November. My Spin City will close for a week or two and Cole is moving next door to 1090 W. Wood and hopes to open his Spin City by the end of November.

My name is Cole and I will be the new owner of Spin City Cycles! I've been in the local cycling community for a little over a decade. Some of you may know me, some of you may know of me, but soon you will all know me and I look forward to getting to know you!
A little about myself - Born and raised in Decatur, I am the father of two beautiful daughters, Julia 11 and Gabrielle 14. I attended Millikin University where I earned a bachelor's degree in Business Management with a focus on Professional Communication and Entrepreneurship. My entire professional career has been in the customer service field. I started a mowing business at the age of 12 which I sold my freshman year at Millikin. I then started working at the Fastenal store in Decatur, eventually becoming the manager. After about 18 years at Fastenal, I needed a change. I wasn't having fun anymore. Since leaving Fastenal, I've been looking for something that I can get excited about, something I'm passionate about, and something I can do well.
I've known Kyle for quite a while now, I consider him a good friend, a decent cyclist, and now a mentor. I started working at Spin City in early May this year. Soon after, Kyle shared with me his plans to close the store. I was saddened by this news; I love Spin City! How could it close? It took me all of two months of working at Spin City to realize THIS is what I want to do; THIS is what excites me; THIS is what I'm passionate about! Could I turn this into a career? Yes, yes I absolutely can!
